Forgive me, but if we all sold at the opening, what do you think would have happened?

Harry,
The profile is a reflection of my frustrations with the market and investing where nothing is as it seems. Chart reading and Technical Analysis are closely related but also are two different things. Charts reflect investor psychology, different formations giving bullish, bearish or neutral signals. TA measures different technical aspects of a stock like volume, price, volatility, buying/selling pressure and so on. Many "gurus" over time have worked out formulas that attempt to predict what a stock will do.

If you want to read a couple of good books on charting try these:

"Secrets to Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets" by Stan Weinstein. I highly recommend this book. It covers charting but he also gives invaluable investing advice that you can't put a price on. After that you can fill in on the charting knowledge with "Using Technical Analysis" by Clifford Pistolese. Even though the title says Technical Analysis the book is all about charting. To see what TA is all about go to this web site: equis.com

A little knowledge can be dangerous. If you want to learn it go all the way. Then follow some stocks you don't have any money in to see how well you predict it's movements.

cya,

Bob
