Sowbug,

I don't think there was any discussion about the next contest during the last 414 messages, except for my replay yesterday. Does anyone have any comments? Or are all of the contestors reading different threads now?

Looking through the list, Sow, there are not a lot of posts by most of the people on this thread any more. We need to broadcast to ICVI, ASND, CSCO, MRVC, INTC, NN and a couple of others...

Re: next Q contest comments.

Contest is great Sowbug. I agree with Jack about the <$5 stocks - it's real life. I was in 1st place for the first 2 contest days! Yesterday I was 56th and today I'm 30th with LANPF at $2.00 on some promising news. By the time of the next contest my other pick might be under $5 too! However, I was serious about my choices when I picked them.

If you must, how about >$5 *or* over $10 million market cap? But I think the contest is great the way it is too. A close look at the current results can be quite revealing. Access to the last contests' results would be interesting too. You could juice it up with a half-way prize too.

I did have another idea though - maybe a completely different contest. It would be interesting to see just how good some our "traders" are. Let's say we started with $$??$$ (no margin) in funny money and we were allowed to do "real" trading with commissions charged during the contest period.

Maybe we could use E*Trade's monthly contest to set something up. See

game.etrade.com

Real trading beginning 1st of each month - stocks and options - with $100K in the account. Real prizes too - $$$!!! You get a password protected account. Not sure how you could get results to a single URL here but some whiz-bang Web guy might be able to figure it out - hint, hint!! Or maybe E*Trade could be convinced to set it up for us?
