Softbank was one of the pre-IPO original investors in E*Trade. They received millions of shares at a very low cost basis(I don't know the exact figures.) Because of Japan's financial difficulties, Softbank had to sell a large portion of their EGRP last fall. They are probably getting a similar deal on the stock this time around. Another bad move by EGRP. They will not make any money in Japan. Nobody else has for the last 9 years, why should they? Until Japan clears out the bad loans, any money invested over there is dead money.
