After the bell, the Semiconductor Industry Association said global chip sales will decline 1.8 percent in 1998, but exhibit 17-19 percent growth from 1999-2001. While Asian currency weakness and other factors hurts the current year, the organization said, "unprecedented growth of Internet usage" should pave the way for growth in the next three years.
