Are you saying if all NN shareholders phoned their brokers tomorrow at the open and transferred shares to his or her name, there would be a flurry of buying to replace the borrowed shares and the stock would rise?

Anything that sounds this easy can't be true. For one thing, anyone who has even purchased a penny's worth on margin can forget that idea, because you don't fully own the stock. As for the rest, I would bet they have to fill out paperwork and pay fees, just like when you want stock certificates.
