And it was quite awhile back when I read about this. It was still experimental, its now a product. However as I remember it was in terms of kelvin and yea 0K is absolute (even dummies like me have a bit of a physics background). Main point here is they do essentially have a PRACTICAL even if semi superconducting processor.

Nothing is free, but yes this does get things going at close to superconducting, that's why theres a production 767 MHz Alpha using existing chips.

Check out the link in my links post and refresh my memory as to specifics. As I recall they claimed to get the internal CPU silicon down to about 3 Degrees while the thermal interface was close to 0.

Of course the translation from lab to production usually represents a loss, sometimes significant. Also seem to remember buried somewhere on Tom site, some photos of the internals and some brief words about the lab version. Believe there was also a ZD article about breaking the current speed record.

Yes it could have been C, but swear claimed temps were way below freezing. Let me know, can't keep backtracking and re finding everything. Just post and intend for those curious to go find out for themselves.
