Semiconductor stocks.

Jim,

The Semiconductor Industry Association and the Electronic Industries Association of Japan published articles the past two days that predict growth in semiconductors will recover beginning in the second half of 1998 in Asia and worldwide. Stock prices discount the future and will move well ahead of any actual recovery in sales and earnings. Once semiconductor stocks start moving up, the media and analysts will start talking about some of the things in these articles. They always have to have an explanation for why stocks go up or down and the recovery that is predicted to begin later this year and continue into 1999 will be their rationale. These types of reports coupled with extremely bearish sentiment, oversold indicators, and stocks near support levels, create an environment that is conducive to a very powerful rally.
