It sounds like Ballard used this valuable time just to repeat the obvious. The market already knows these things and has responded accordingly. Ballard should convince us why the market is wrong.

Just my $0.02...Joel

Well, let's not over do it though...

The S3 cards that I saw and used personally at E3 where not better than my Voodoo2 SLI setup in terms of high framerates at 1024x768 resolution. And the variation in framerate while "Forsaken" was running was extreme (from 70fps down to 15fps) which in my mind casts doubts on the ability of the card to maintain a playable framerate at key moments in the game. In 1024x768 mode, my Voodoo2 SLI setup maintains very playable framerates between 26 and 49fps.

(Boy, dispelling competitor FUD makes me feel better!)

Too be fair, I'm sure the S3 guys would, correctly, respond with a couple of factoids:

1.) That was demo silicon with demo drivers.
2.) The S3 price point should be well below the $550+ I paid for my SLI setup.
3.) Voodoo2 doesn't support true 24-bit color.

To which _I_ would confidently respond with several factoids from the recent TDFX press releases...

Ummmm...

Hmmmm...

Guys? Gonna support 24-bit color? At 1024x768? Guys?

(Obviously, I agree with your larger point Larry. ;-)
