As a recent engineering graduate, I can confidently say that most new engineers are still male. It would seem that there are more undergraduate women in engineering now as a percentage, but it seemed to me (during graduate school) that the ratio has been about constant for advanced engineering degrees--might just be a time delay, though.

To stay on topic--Hong Kong and Taiwan are s(t)inking again tonight. I wish the market would just crash and get over with it so I can put my money back in! :)

*AV*--I have looked over the list a few times and contemplated your comments as I toyed around with my previous post. I am dropping PAIR from the list and leaving the list at 9 candidates. Considering your comments and some extra soul searching, PAIR probably does not deserve to be on the list and I might have been slightly resistant to coming to terms with its short comings.
