Many confuse low commissions with low transactional costs

They are not one of the same

Transaction costs include "slippage", the difference between the price that you wanted to be executed at compared to the price the broker eventually told you he filled you at

On a 1000 share ticket, if you missed your entry or entry by say just an 1/8th, that'll cost you $125. So such a trade with a say $20 commisssion costs has a transaction cost of $145

Many think that the solution to on line trading is WEB based or browser based technology. Its not - its slow, and little more than an email system

You do have a choice

You can have lower transaction costs as well as higher execution speeds

Earlier this year CyBerBroker, Austin, TX began offering CyBerTrader to professional, active electronic traders

CyBerCorp has a WEB site plus there is a CyBerTrader thread on SI

246810,
1. thanks for the NDB info about their commission structure being better than DLJ and being able to use decimals.
2. As you say zero commission may not be the bargain it appears to be if you get taken on the stock price.
