To All,

I'm working on a term paper on DNA chips, particularly a
hypothetical application for a colorectal cancer probe array.
I've been using AFFX as a reference.

Does anyone know the answer or could point me to an article or
reference for the following questions:

1) Are the current DNA chips sensitive enough to probe source
material without needing (PCR) amplification? (From old articles
I've read earlier chips needed PCR. Would future chips be
sensitive enough?)

2) Is a colorectal cancer genetic test an appropriate use for
DNA chips?

Thanks in advance for any help.
(Apologies if this isn't the correct place to post.)
