Pharmacia Develops Impotence Drug to Compete With Viagra Bloomberg News June 4, 1998, 12:21 a.m. PT Stockholm, June 4 (Bloomberg) -- Pharmacia & Upjohn AB, a Swedish-U.S. drugmaker, said it's developing a new impotence drug to compete with Pfizer Inc.'s Viagra, reported newspaper FinansTidningen, citing Goeran Ando, head of research at P&U. ''We're working on several new products against impotence and there are projects in clinical phase,'' said Ando. He added that the reason for the secrecy around the projects is the tough competition from competitors like Schering-Plough Corp. and Zonagen Inc., which within the next few months will apply for U.S. approval to market their entry, Vasomax.
