Gary: Interesting posture by the key Senators in the video poker political war. Senator Land leads a filibuster against banning the industry and comes out a day or two ago in favor of taxes and regulations. Senator Ryberg was one of the prime forces behind the bill to ban the industry and stands in opposition to taxes and regulations. It doesn't look like either (industry ban OR tax/regulate) is going happen. Given such positions by such influential Senators, I have a hard time imagining what Governor Beasley would accomplish by a special session on video poker other than to provide himself an opportunity for more re-election campaign grandstanding. It looks to me like BNGO will come through this political season unscathed.
