okay, so Bonnie exagerated a little but its not surprising at all to find couples pulling down $150k-$200k together IF they are both in high tech.

It would be interesting to look at fund inflows by geographic areas but I bet that info isn't available.

Ah, the Tokyo of America. A good analogy. Most folks I know who are in a 401K are maxed out at $10K a year, the company matches 50-100% in stock. We're talking money-equivalent $30K but no pension. I think I added correctly, thank you. There's huge number of biotech startups so it's not just engineers, it's biotech and financial couples. Average engineer base salary in Bay Area is $85 K, I'm told. When value of stock options and bonuses is added in to income the number gets pretty huge.
