Bruce, Jim and all:

I am unsure where Qcom's patents are issued. When you get a U.S. patent, the technology is enforceable in the U.S., and not in any other country. If you get a European Patent, it is enforceable in Europe. Does that make sense?

Now, Ericy can manufacture, test, develop their system b/c they haven't infringed on Qcom's patents. The only way to determine whether Ericy, or any other company doing work on the WCDMA standard, is to take them to court on a patent infringement case. This costs plenty of money.
