BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1998--

Demos at SuperComm in Atlanta Will Feature Multi-Vendor Chipset Communication and Single Central-Office Modem for DSL-Lite to Full Rate

Aware Inc. (NASDAQ:AWRE), a worldwide leader in xDSL (Digital Subscriber Line) technology for high-speed Internet access, will demonstrate the first example of xDSL interoperability between chipsets from different semiconductor providers next week in Atlanta (Booth #9153). Through its ongoing commitment to standards and interoperability, Aware is taking a leadership role in enabling multivendor solutions that will accelerate the mass deployment of high-speed Internet access using ADSL.

Aware will demonstrate the Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) T1.413 AD20msp910 chipset communicating with Lucent Technologies' DSP1690 WildWire(tm) chipset (Booth #6659). Based on the widely accepted DMT-based (Discrete Multitone) standard, Aware's DSL-Lite technology delivers on the promise of the Universal ADSL Working Group (UAWG) proposed standard for high-speed Internet access over the existing telephone network.

"Aware is committed to promoting interoperability so that multiple chipsets may work seamlessly with one another. Our demonstration of leading chipsets from ADI and Lucent interoperating is a landmark event for the industry," said Michael Tzannes, president and chief executive officer of Aware Inc. "By using Aware's technology and software, semiconductor providers can offer solutions that meet the DMT standard and interoperate with other solutions. This is key to the mass roll-out of ADSL services by telephone companies."

Aware's DSL-Lite, a variant of ADSL technology, is designed for easy, low-cost deployment in the home and requires no special equipment or wiring. Using one existing phone line and ordinary phone jacks, DSL-Lite modems are as easy to use as traditional analog modems, but deliver transmission speeds 25 times faster than today's 56-Kbps modems.

Aware's DSL-Lite DMT technology and software eliminate the need for a voice-data splitter on the customer's side of the connection. This means a service provider can offer the speed of DSL technology to consumers without having to send a technician to customers' homes to install new wiring and a splitter.

Aware Demonstrates First Fully Scalable Central Office Solution

Aware, the only company that offers both standardized full-rate and DSL-Lite technology and software, is also demonstrating a chipset solution with a true upward migration path, providing equipment vendors with a solution that supports both DSL-Lite and full-rate ADSL. This dual mode implementation will be demonstrated in Aware's booth featuring Advanced Fibre Communications' (NASDAQ: AFCI) UMC1000 3DLC(tm) third generation digital loop carrier and Aware's X200 modem/routers. AFC's fully integrated DSL-Lite and full-rate ADSL implementations use the Aware/ADI AD20msp910 chipset and are fully compatible with the installed base of AFC's UMC1000 systems.

Tzannes added, "Continuing our technology leadership in xDSL, Aware offers solutions that support both DSL-Lite and full-rate ADSL. This solution enables equipment providers to offer service providers one piece of central office equipment that will operate with either splittered or splitterless modems at the customer premise. This eases the installation costs to carriers and protects their equipment investment. AFC's UMC 1000 product addresses both central office and DLC markets, making ubiquitous deployment possible."

Aware is a worldwide leader in xDSL technology with products that enable high-speed Internet access over the existing telephone network using a single line. Aware's products include xDSL technology, software, development platforms, modules and modems for high-speed, interactive broadband network applications. Not me .
Hell I never sell anything.
I must have mislead you when I said I made some money,, I meant just I was ahead of where I bought the new shares. So I "made" paper money.
In fact Patriot, PAIR is Now my biggest holding in terms of shares owned ( not total dollars , thats still MCLD) and not counting penny stocks like PKGP and VTPI
But I own over 3 times as much PAIR as ADCT, CD and UIT and 1/2 again as much as DRMD. My other stuff is tiny compared to these guys.
