No doubt about atm never replacing ethernet in the wiring closet. That's why i was never a fan of Fore.

however, ATM makes sense as a corporate backbone, especially as you get these unified service networks. I don't know what the distance limitations are on GE, but I'd think atm would also be superior in the campus or MAN environment.

I know that sonet is just a transport, but as far as pmcs goes, they sell packet chip sets for all WAN packet technologies. Per Bulldozer's prior points, we don't care what technology wins, pmcs is the merchant semiconductor supplier to all of the players.

All we have to do is watch the battles being fought, pmcs is providing the bullets.

I'm assuming that everyone agrees that there's a fair amount of room left for growth in the world of packet infrastructure, that should bode well for pmcs. (purposeful understatement.)
