if you want to buy at the current BID then yes you would put in a limit order at the bid price... but I have also put in market orders (the ask) and been lumped in with a large fill at the BID price... doesn't happen that often though...

THERE ARE DIFFERENT MARKETMAKERS GIVING DIFFERENT BID/ASK PRICES,

IF YOU ARE LUCKY AT TIMES YOU CAN GET FILLED AT THE BID, MOSTLY ON LIMIT ORDERS THOUGH.

BUT BE CAREFUL, BECAUSE AT TIMES THAT MEANS THE PRICE WILL COME OFF!

UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE NO WAY OF SEEING THE MM TRADING AMONGST THEMSELVES.
