It's going to be very interesting over the next few quarters.
This merger is going to be no slam dunk, IMHO.

There's a heckuva lot of product overlap between OTEXF's text
database portion (i.e.search engine) and BASIS Plus. You can
always acquire installed bases but it's quite a different thing
to merge the technologies and leverage the combined technology
base to leapfrog the competition. If the latter is hard to do,
all that'll happen is that the new company will be more akin to
a conglomerate that has 2 separate products, one of which
is pretty much moribund i.e. isn't showing any growth(BASIS).
Of course, if migrating existing customers to OTEXF's products
proves to be easy, the purchase will prove worthwhile in a
heartbeat!

Also, IDI has been shopped around to various DM vendors for over
a year now. For whatever reason, OTEXF was the only one that
bit. Let's see how things turn out.
