Grass roots media is finally getting ready to kick in. Recommended a series of stories focusing on likely impacts on the average consumer, so to speak. Described the event as the equivalent of throwing a handful of gravel into a pond, resulting in multiple ripples that conflict and hence magnify the consequences, or at least the unpredictability. There was an expressed desire not to sound too shrill, but I'd rather they do that now and create anticipation than have people continue to assume that this is everyone else's problem. We need some wake-up calls that are spread around the country sufficiently to get everyone's attention, or at least to remove the excuse of "I didn't know." A few small community banks being temporarily shuttered by regulators ought to do the trick. Next month?
