Concerning future Voodoo products, I wouldn't be surprised if 3dfx follows last year's model and announces Voodoo3 this fall/winter for release in early/mid 1999.

Keeping your future roadmap secret is CRITICAL in this business, if 3dfx published what they're going to do in the next year, it gives competitors the information to make better/comparable products.

It's better to keep the competition guessing, one can always aim to make the best technology/fastest card... but these companies have to make the card affordable to the consumer. And by keeping the roadmap secret, it does not help the competitors make these hard Price to Performance choices.

Even if TNT comes out in time AND can produce in volume (Two BIG IFs), I guarantee Voodoo2 will still outsell TNT in Q4/Christmas. 3dfx has the retail brand name. The average consumer looking for an accelerator on the retail end will see 3dfx ALL OVER the place, on game boxes and from salesperson recommendations. And with many glide-only games (albeit more from last year), the sale reps will recommend voodo2 because it will work with all the games all the time.
