I think more help from capitol hill is a great idea

As a result of its early and unique leadership role in CDMA, QUALCOMM has an extensive CDMA patent portfolio. It
includes more than 130 CDMA patents issued, more than 400 patent applications pending in the U.S. and around the world,
and 55 licensed equipment manufacturers.

All, I resent the fact that northforce and others are claiming to be technical 'dullites'. Was it not your beloved Surfer Mike who first publicly proclaimed an inability to distinguish a photon from a door stop? That, my friends, is a dullite with a capital D. So back off you potential claimants, technical illiteracy is mine, all mine I tell you.
Wow does that feel better.
Look gang, the boys from San Diego are now in Washington, D.C. pleading their case. Their press release was awesome in its clarity: we have the IPRs to stop you if you don't do the 3G thing our way, ie, backward compatability with IS95, so it's our way or the highway. I just don't see any other interpretation. I know that this will not come as a huge shock to Gregg Powers who has been saying precisely this for many moons now, but it is official, in print, read our lips. It's showtime!
Yesterday Tellabs made an essentially bet-the-company decision when they ponied up $7.1 B to buy Ciena. If they've guessed wrong on DWDM and CIEN's place in the firmament, Lucent will bury them. No way to come back from a 7 billion goof with the LU boys moving at light speed (get it?).
Well, this is normally the type of statement that Jim Frost would appropriately, and floridly, make but I'm taking the bull by the spectrum: this is the shoot-out at the O.K. Corral and we ain't gonna have to wait much longer to find out who's got the biggest cajones in the wireless technology platform world. We got the Mighty Q looking Ericy right in the eyes with a multi-billion dollar game of chicken. I think tero, tora, tora is gonna be up to his ying yang in sardines or eating a whole lot of Alpo mighty pronto. Y'all stay tuned. Mike Doyle
