RE: 500K Volume Clarification

SyQuest has stated in the past their goal and expectation of reaching production capacity of 500K SparQs in the quarter ending in December. Last month, their time line appeared to have improved to the September quarter when the following was posted by Ed on their website:

"Order backlog continues to be strong and we expect to reach quarterly production volume of nearly a half-million SparQ drives and associated cartridges by the end of fiscal 1998."

I thought the above was simply a mistake, so I called IR and pointed out the difference and asked for an explanation. As usual, they did not return my call. Ed's statement still appears unchanged on their website.

Yesterday's Dow Jones article once again quotes Ed as stating his expectation of 500K production volume for the quarter ending in December.

I assume the December quarter estimate is correct. Perhaps if SyQuest IR happens to read this, they will either modify Ed's comments on their website, or ask Ed to change his comments to the press.
