Ok, here's the deal with my Liar Liar DVD...

I am taking the 1st one back to Best Buy and getting the same movie if available... i will report on its quality after I do that...

as for the manuracturer...
it's universal studios... compared to new line home video which made the Austin Powers video which works like a charm... it's really wonderful I might add... great picture, great sound...

and to do justice to the Liar Liar video, 98% of the movie plays fine, its just the remaining 2% that's very very annoying, because you sense that it's not good for the TV and speakers to make the sounds/jittery motions that they do.

in any case...

VCD player for Windows CE uses AMlogic MPEG-1 chip..............

IGS Technologies, AMD, AMLogic and Rachis Demonstrate 'NetVideo,'
the first video CD Player for Windows CE

TAIPEI, Taiwan, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- IGS Technologies, AMD, AMLogic, and Rachis Corp. today unveiled a new
hardware reference design called NetVideo(TM), the first Video CD player for Windows CE. The companies are
demonstrating NetVideo at the Computex show in Taiwan this week.

The NetVideo demonstration is based on the AMD IlanSC400 microcontroller and displays Video CD content on a television
through IGST's CyberPro2010 multimedia accelerator and AMLogic's AML MPEG-1 decoder. Rachis provides its PlusTV
Integration kit for Windows CE to enable the hardware components.

Based on the compact-digital disc specification, Video CD (VCD) is a multimedia standard that supports the storage of audio
and video data types. VCD technology provides capacity similar to a standard VHS videotape with far superior playback
quality. VCD has enjoyed strong penetration in the Asia/Pacific region and Dataquest forecasts more than 65 million
VCD-capable units will ship worldwide over the next four years.

By adding the Windows CE operating system to the Video CD player, the consortium hopes to open larger markets for
home-entertainment systems. This allows Internet browsing, email exchange, and interactive gaming.

The AMD IlanSC400 Microcontroller provides a proven, expandable (through PCI slots) hardware platform for Windows
CE-based set-top boxes, Video CD players, and similar multimedia devices. IlanSC400 offers a low-power AM486(TM)
processor core, PC/AT compatibility, and a sophisticated memory management unit to ensure high performance and efficient
designs.

The AMLogic AML MPEG-1 audio/video decoder is a single chip that combines CD-ROM decoder and MPEG-1 video
and audio decoder. It is particularly well-suited for Video CD players because it provides glue-less interfaces to the CD-DSP,
audio DAC, and NTSC/PAL encoders.

The IGS Technologies CyberPro2010 Multimedia Accelerator is the most integrated single-chip TVDirect accelerator,
capable of displaying high quality video, text, and graphics to any television in the world. The CyberPro2010 provides the
most affordable multimedia solution for the Windows CE-based "NetVideo" Video CD player.

The Rachis Plus TV kit enables hardware manufacturers to integrate components that provide the latest DVD, audio, video,
graphic, gaming, web browsing, and digital technology into a set-top appliance running the Windows CE operating system.
Rachis has a complete PlusTV kit for the integration of Windows CE onto the IlanSC400 platform.
