Does anybody know where I can find historical information on P/E ratios of the S&P500, as well as for individual stocks? In estimating a bottom for this cycle, it seems to me that comparing the S&P500 P/E for July '96 to those of the semi equips might give some insight into the overall market's effect on the sector's valuation.

I'm really confused why you'all think AMAT's cheap... first call is 1.30 ish... 2nd call will be lower... next year is up in the air.... oh yes I know they're saying that biz will improve 4Q... early next year (pick a date) ... but what else are they going to say "we don't know when it's gonna get better" doesn't sound great on a cc ...
