Chip,

If Banshee is going to be released by late August, the Banshee info you're looking for should probably come out this month.

Is releasing the specs 2 months before production/release THAT bad. I think it's smart business sense.

I do not think the analogy to Intel really works well. Intel IS a monopoly and has a large technology or manufacturing capacity lead over AMD and Cryix.

In 3D card land, I'm sure any of these companies can design a faster card... but executing on an affordable consumer level is something 3dfx has shown it can do the best. AND showing their future specs as "Ballard" said in the interview before its prudent (for various reasons: sales cannabilization and giving the competitors a benchmark to beat), is not the smart thing to do.

I think all of us are getting a bit frustrated over the stock price and looking for something/someone to blame. Heck, if the stock was in the 40's, would we really be criticizing 3dfx for producing the hottest selling graphics card, the strongest brand name, and the best developer/game support in the industry?
