Bob Pisanni, today on CNBC, was stating that the average correction was 11.4%
and that it lasted 44 days. He also stated that our current correction
was in the 41st day. (Don't read that as though I expect the correction
to be over on Wednesday). He was quoting some percentage corrections
for various indexes. After discussing this with Donald we decided that his
numbers were incorrect so we decided to do our own calculations, which follow:

RECENT 06/03/98 POINT PERCENT
INDEX HIGH LOW CHANGE CHANGE

DJI 9,262 8,750 512 -5.53%
SPX 1,133 1,078 55 -4.85%
OEX 548 512 36 -6.57%
NAZ 1,931 1,753 178 -9.22%
NDX 1,310 1,164 146 -11.15%
SOX 330 244 86 -26.06%
RUT 492 449 43 -8.74%
BKX 913 824 89 -9.75%
DRG 651 608 43 -6.61%
HWI 169 146 23 -13.61%
MSH 596 523 73 -12.25%
TRX 770 670 100 -12.99%
RTL 692 675 17 -2.46%
XOI 506 464 42 -8.30%

Just food for thought. George

I received this sentiment indicator in e-mail....evidently a few days ago. I have had trouble keeping up recently
----------------------------------------------

LOWRISK.COM

INVESTOR SENTIMENT SURVEY

6 / 1 / 98

------------------------------------------------

Below are the results of our weekly "Guess the Dow" sentiment survey. The
survey was taken from 5/25 through 5/31 on our web site.

Number of participants: 403

30 day outlook:

27% bullish, 23% last week
57% bearish, 42% last week
16% neutral, 35% last week

(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)

Median guess for the DJIA closing value on Friday, 5/29: 8971 (it was 9067
last week). More complete sentiment data is available at
<http://www.lowrisk.com/sentiment.htm> .

Yet another week with EXTREMELY bearish sentiment. The 57% bearish reading
is the highest ever in the 56 weeks of data that we have. The DJIA fell
more than 200 points last week so an increase in bearishness is to be
expected. However, a 56% bearish reading must be taken as some type of
warning not to get too aggressive with the short positions. Bullish
sentiment actually climbed a bit last week to 27%. Apparently this was a
week where a many people made up there mind - neutral sentiment dropped 19%
to end at 16%.

Don -- good to know that you timed your entry well

Hope that this long trade works out well for me--its been a while since I had a real winner.

>>glad to hear that your buy signal triggered. I will not hold over the weekend though <<

It always feels somewhat comforting when different systems give consistent signals. Like some time back when you, Kevin, Nemer and I all had a buy signals at almost the same time. Not sure it ensures success -- but at least we can commiserate when we all lose money:)
