Chris, I think Jesus and Christianity are two totally different things. I think Jesus' messages of wisdom and love have been taken and swept away and lost in a political movement which did not purely reflect him. I have enormous respect for Jesus, and all the other prophets who tried to teach love and truth, but believe that a religion which hurts people, and teaches hatred and superiority, is a negative. That is also part of the reason I do not believe there is One Truth. Once people believe there is, then most of the inhabitants of earth, past, present and future, become second-class citizens, lost souls. It does not make sense to me that God would have created the world like that. The fact that the Christian churches fight among themselves over ideology, and that millions of people have been brutally killed and subjugated by Christians forcing their belief system on others, is enough for me to realize that religious movements are not purely positive. Since I want to only do good in the world, I am therefore not attracted to things that cause hurt or do evil. So it is very possible to love Jesus and reject what came from him.
