...if Michael Dell paints a gloomy picture...

I think DELL will have to file for bankruptcy before this happens. <g>

Giddy, MOT is finally doing what I have been expecting them to do for months and that is cutting jobs which also means aggressively cutting dead-end projects and expenses. This has been a political issue, as you would imagine, since many mid-level managers are affected as well. In the short run, it will be painful to some workers but with the strong US economy they should all be able to find jobs.

There are still a few top-notch "enabling visionaries" at MOT, such as Merle Gilmore, who should help with the restructuring plans.

It will be a while.

>> Agreed. MOT negativeness is widely expected. Wouldn't be surprised if MOT went up tomorrow morning. <<

Here you go, gg

08:41 ET Motorola Inc. (MOT) 51 1/2: Semiconductor and cell phone equipment maker is warning that Q2 results will come in well below Wall Street expectations; in fact, it could post a loss in Q2 due to deteriorating semiconductor conditions, global pricing pressures, and weak economic conditions in Asia. MOT was projected to earn $0.20 a share in Q2 vs year-ago profit of $0.62. You may not believe, but stock actually trading up 2 pts on Instinet.
