Steve: The WildWire silicon is G.lite only. I would rather see an ADI or TI silicon solution in the CO/RT that supports both ADSL.heavy and G.lite at the ATU-R location. Will the WildWire support ADSL.heavy?

I'm not sure I follow the TI/AMTX/ALA question. Westell can use any silicon solution they want, but they feel the TI DSP solution will-be/is the best solution. I'm not aware of any patents ALA has for standard category II DMT. I don't think we want to see Alcatel win all the contracts on a proprietary DMT solution.

The Telechoice post indicates a few things:

1) Westell will provide a solution on the 5ESS platform... an agreement with Lucent to integrate certain intellectual properties into their C.O.-based switching platforms...

2) Westell is telling BEL they will have DMT before 1999.
3) BEL has an RFP out for DMT based equipment... Westell reportedly has recently offered Bell Atlantic DMT solutions for deployment in line with its recent RFP for next generation access equipment..

4) Do you find it interesting that Westell's DMT is almost ready and BEL switches it's stance on the CAP vs DMT debate?... Bell Atlantic has indicated privately that it is strongly considering moving to DMT later in 1998 .... until later.
