Very good point Bard. I have picked up a few shares of P this week on the optimistic hope that they still might qualify for the forward split of P x 1.5 x 35 common, like the shares purchased last week will. But that is just an optimistic gamble. At this point you might have to say that for non-gamblers, the W is the smartest play again. At least they'll be sure of what they have, and I for one would not worry for a moment that there will be any short-circuiting of the 50-cent exercise deal: it just can't be done under the rules.
