Sierra Semiconductor is no more. Sierra was the impetus behind Chartered Semiconductor of the Singapore Technologies Group. Chartered was established as a joint venture between Singapore Tech, Sierra and National Semiconductor. Singapore Tech is closely associated with the government of Singapore. Chartered was started as a foundry for Sierra or at least Sierra was its first and only customer at the time.

As time passed Sierra's star diminished and Chartered's star brightened. Chartered is now a major foundry fab to the semiconductor world boasting dozens of big name tech customers.

Sierra absorbed a Canadian company called PMC some time back. And later shut down the Sierra operations, recreating itself as PMC-Sierra.

I used to contract with Sierra, and still contract for Chartered.

Mike if you could pick two or three of these companies in the 3-5 year frame which will make the most money on the new telecommunications roadway? Your opinion??

Let me give you a quick list right off the top of my head: Cisco Systems, Lucent Technologies, Newbridge Networks, Northern Telecom, Ascend Communications, Bay Networks, 3Coms, Fore Systems, Cabletron Systems, Sierra Semiconductor, Tellabs, etc.

Thanks so much,
