And do be careful out there Kiff...IRC is like the wild west...hehehe

By now you have seen the mIRC setup box that pops up, and you will see a choice of IRC servers to connect with. On Dalnet, one of the more stable servers is Spider...DALnet US, CA, Santa Clara. If possible, users gathering in one particular room, say a stock discussion, would do well to all use the same server, which will minimize lag time...keep all your talk turnaround time as close to one second as possible...This will also help in case of what are called net splits.

You will also see on the upper left of the tool bar a channel listing button to click on and get a screen listing of thousands of channels, or rooms, you can visit. There is also a button up there for channels folder. You can put your favorite places in there, say #DIXS, just like you would add stock symbols to your dynamic real time quotes.

There are many nifty features too in what is called the DCC feature. You can send files to another in the room with you in mere seconds...say a DD document that you wish to discuss, or even a picture of you in your office at home sitting behind stacks of stock certificates to authenticate yourself to the ones you are chatting with.....

You will see. It can be fun...

Best,
Charliss
