A million tiny mirrors?

I came across the following post on the Yahoo - MVIS board. I am aware of the competition presented by LCD displays. However, I have not heard of the "million tiny mirror" technology mentioned below. Does anyone know if such technology does exist and if so if it is a viable substitute for VRD? Also, has anyone seen the BusinessNews article mentioned in posting 1127? If so does it have anything new to offer?

Yahoo Post -
" I have serious concerns about the competing technologies. Can someone disagree with me please so that we can flush out the facts and evaluate our companies technology.

Microvision's color display uses a red, green, and blue laser along with an oscillating mirror and lens assembly to scan a picture on the operators retina. It works. BUT, other minature head mount display manufacturers are using a red, green, and blue LED along with a million tiny mirrors to create an image that the operator sees. The mirrors are individually positioned several times a second to represent each of the colors. Between the two technologies, I would bet on the LED's and mirco mirrors over the laser painting on the retina. Blue lasers are expensive and unstable. LED's are cheaper. And, Joe Sixpack, the average user is not going to look into a laser no matter how safe the warning label tells him it is. "
