Does anyone have recommendations for a biotech fund? I want to diversify beyond AGPH into early stage biotech companies, but lack the scientific knowledge to really understand their potential.

When talking about in-licensing, "late stage" means advanced clincials, usually PIII. The company selling the product usually is doing so because they do not have the resources to finish the trials or set up a marketing force. AGPH certainly has both (for HIV drugs).
