Your defintion talks about Ethernet. Our point was that there are many other Networks which are not ethernet.<< I agree with everything you said above. But, you knew this was coming, just like people use terms like facial tissue <-> Kleenex and copy and <-> Xerox a document interchangeably I was using the terms ethernet and network interchangeably as we had been only discussing connecting 3 PCs in a home office network. I agree strictly speaking I, we, shouldn't use these words interchangeably but many people frequently do.
