Techbull, good point. Hadn't considered this angle. I don't believe it either, but its possible. Would be kind of expensive though for the home market. You get the cheap NC, but have to pay up (monthly) for access.

<NCI ANNOUNCES "ANYISPT" PACKAGE IN JAPAN WITH FOUR
LEADING SERVICE PROVIDERS

Easy Deployment Package Offers the Greatest Flexibility and Revenue Opportunities for
Service Providers in Japan

TOKYO, June 3, 1998 - At the Networld+Interop Show in Japan, Network Computer, Inc.
(NCI) today introduced "AnyISPT", a comprehensive package for Japanese cable and
service providers to offer Enhanced TVT services that integrate the TV and Internet
experience. As part of today's announcement, four of Japan's largest cable and Internet
service providers with a combined customer base of 13 million, announced that they have
adopted the "AnyISP" package and will use NCI's software technology to offer new
Internet-based services to their customers in Japan later this year.

Leading service providers DDI Communications, Dream Train Internet (DTI), Interactive
Cable Communications (ICC) and CrossBeam will take part in "AnyISP" which combines
NCI's TV NavigatorT client and Custom ConnectT server software with low-cost set-top
hardware to extend their service and target new customers. DDI is Japan's second largest
telecommunications company and offers Internet access throughout Japan; DTI is an
Internet service provider and a subsidiary of Mitsubishi ElectricCorporation; ICC is an
interactive cable company and an affiliate of Marubeni Corporation, one of Japan's largest
trading companies; and Crossbeam is an interactive cable company and an affiliate of
Sumitomo Corporation.

Japanese service providers have been looking for new ways to attract customers by offering
Enhanced TV to the many affinity groups in Japan such as fan clubs, community groups,
hotel chains and other vertical organizations. By adopting NCI's "AnyISP" package, ICC,
CrossBeam, DTI and DDI can take advantage of NCI's open technology and flexible
architecture to forge marketing partnerships with affinity groups and create a customized,
targeted service.

"The AnyISP package offers a tremendous opportunity to Japanese service providers," said
David Roux, CEO of NCI. "NCI is pleased to offer the first package tailored for Japanese
service providers that want to increase their customer base and target new customers with
Enhanced TV services. The adoption of the AnyISP package by four of Japan's leading
service providers and cable companies demonstrates the appeal of NCI's open and
customizable software solution."

"AnyISP's" easy deployment package includes all required software to create and roll out
an Enhanced TV service. NCI's TV Navigator client software provides the open foundation
for the service, enabling a range of customizable Enhanced TV applications such as
electronic mail, electronic programming guides and Web browsing. Additionally, with
NCI's Custom Connect Server software, service providers can manage their subscriber base
and create their own unique service using corporate branding and existing content. Set-top
box hardware will be provided by NCI's hardware partners and will feature dial-up or
cable modem interfaces.

"AnyISP" also incorporates smart card technology, offering benefits to the service provider
and their customers. Service providers can use smart card technology to attract new
customers and forge affinity relationships with content providers or interest groups by
setting the smart card to a given home page when the user logs on to the network.
Customers can roam to other set-top boxes within an existing service provider's network to
access their personal information and applications. Most importantly, smart card technology
enables the service provider to extend the branding of their service and maintain a closer
relationship with their customer.

NCI is an affiliate of Oracle Corp. and is the leading provider of open software for easy to
use Internet enhanced products. Since 1996 NCI has brought its technology to homes,
schools and businesses through its strategic worldwide alliances. NCI is based in Redwood
Shores, California, and can be reached at 650-631-4600. NCI's web site is
