Kal,
Many of the accusations that are leveled against Microsoft aren't true, which is probably why they seem hard to believe. I understand that many people consider Microsoft to be evil incarnate and all of its employees drones. To say that Microsoft is either saintly or inherently evil are both inaccurate and extreme statements. In fact, most of the people we hire from Silicon Valley are surprised to learn that the Borg perception is out of sync with reality. They're also usually very surprised at the quality of our technical staff and our willingness to acknowledge that Microsoft product X or Y has problems. Of course, rather than sit around and say "woe are we" that our products have problems, we focus on a plan to build them into best of breed, either by fixing or making architectural changes. One of the reasons we seem to do this slowly at times is not that we're actually working slowly, but that we try to avoid preannouncing major features (not always successful) and we put a lot of energy into providing our customers with a migration path.

I can tell you that there are lots of good things in the pipeline.

Thanks,
Mike
