Hi Christine

<<People who consider themselves Christian are all over the map on every issue.>>

That is true, but remember those are people. I thik the fact that there are millions of Christians, guarantees the fact that there will be opinions that "are all over the map". I do think christianity has core values and meaning(remember I am not christian, or Jewish)If people who call themselves members, or even leaders, of that religion act outside the true meaning of it, they reflect on themselves only.

I think the same could be said of any religion. There are Muslims who espouse violence. I dont think that renders the Muslim religion meaningless. there was man named Meir Kahane who claimed to represent the Jews. His slogan was "for every Jew, a .22" he espoused violence in a major way. I dont feel that he truly represented the Jews or rendered Judiasim meaningless in any way. IMO, he represented only his sick violent motives and nothing more.

Mark

Wrong Christine, wrong, wrong, wrong!!!!

ALL Christians have ONE thing in common. They ALL BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. This is the ONLY thing that Christians agree on. From that point on they all go in different directions (all over the map). Each Christian then rationalizes which aspects of "Christianity" they will accept or reject.

A Christian can break all ten commandments everyday, 365 days a year and still call himself a Christian solely because he believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. That is the ONLY absolute requirement necessary to be a Christian. Everything else can be modified, rationalized, modernized, revised, upgraded, downgraded, deleted, or added to suit each individual Christian. And that Christine is exactly what they do. That is why Hitler could look Mother Thresa right in the eye and say "I am just as good a Christian as you".
