To All:

One of the frequent questions that comes up on the Dream Machine thread on Silicon Investor is what is the best computer configuration for a home trading station. Because the best way to answer some of the questions on this topic is to get the opinion of traders who have built their own home trading station I am asking you to answer the
questions shown below.

A summary of the answers will be posted on this thread and on the Dream Machine thread. If your trading station has more then one computer please answer questions 2, 4 and 6 for the most recent computer you have purchased for your trading station. When
answering questions 3, 5, and 7 please think in terms of a trading station with 4 monitors and running at a minimum CyberTrader an IRC channel and a News feed. Please skip question 8 if you don't understand the question.

1. How many computers are you using in your trading station?
2. What CPU are you using in your trading station?
3. What CPU would you recommend others use in their trading station?
4. How much memory are you using in your trading station?
5. How much memory would you recommend others use in their trading station?
6. What operating system are you using in your trading station, Win 95/ Win NT?
7. What operating system would you recommend others use in their trading station?
8. If the trading station was also being used as Network Address Translation server for two other trading stations connected to a high speed internet connection, 10 megabits per second, what CPU would you recommend?

I thank you in advance for your help. Howard R. Hansen

Couldyou imagine doing 4000 tickets a month, thats 200 ticks a day, or 23ish tickets an hour or a ticket every 3 minutes, all day, every trading day for amonth....
I'd rather invest in a life insurance policy for that trader!

-BTW, did anyone see the article in Barrons, about how far the hospitals are from theNYSE for hear attack victims, how the AMEX has two defibs on site....kind of wild, huh.

Brentsky, dont get angy at me about this one, just thought it was a unique article to read in barrons.
