Has anyone heard of the anti-De Beers posters being strung up around Jo'Berg? (maybe Nempela, or DavidA, or someone else local could clarify) I heard that some unflattering slogans can be found on telephone poles and the such.

I am waiting with baited breath for the likely PRO De Beers article in tomorrow's Financial Post. I was surprised not to see it today, so I figured that the reporter must be looking for the big score in the Saturday paper. Say, you don't suppose he may have been rebuked for misquoting folks? He seems to have a double standard, at least. (perhaps this makes him a candidate for employment with our favourite propaganda machine)

And a little rumour about a visitor to the RSA consulate in TO today: Apparently, a "spokesman" from De Beers dropped by to "advise" the RSA government folks. He was shown the door. Any comments from our friends on this unceremonious situation?

And to Mr. J from Can.: I may not be some high priced analyst, who tours the world tasting all the finest "grapes" at someone else's expense, but how could any thinking person believe SUF's Angolan assets to be a "liability"? Gee, what a surprise to find out SUF is loath to deal with your firm, the firm which has sold the most stock over the past few weeks and days. Thanks to Vaughn for pointing out some more difficult errors that escaped me. Can anyone remember Can. analysts recommending a company who they did not underwrite? I wonder about the motivations of a diamond analyst who can't get along with the likes of SUF. I think Mr. J. used to be a pretty big supporter of Lytton Minerals, but enough said.

Does everyone know of Bob Bishop's letter to Dr. Maduna? His last line asks: "how a company such as De Beers can attempt to impose itself into a deal in which it had no interest."? This is the guy that first explained diamond mines to most North Americans, and while he may seem promotional with many of his recommendations, he is clearly communicating that the world's mining community is watching with disdain the developments thus far in RSA.

Oh well, maybe we should just wait until Monday. It seems likely that things could happen quickly.
