There will still be the high end that does what you want but the low end will out grow it. I saw a note here stating that "at $2300 there is no reason NOT to buy a Pentium II 400 NEC". That's fine but $2300 is a lot of money for a lot of people. You can buy a VCR for under $200, a stereo for $200, a 25" TV for $300. Why not a set top Box/PC for under $500? Can't you see where this is all going? Couple it with HDTV later and you have a heck of a set up.
Intel and the likes of Dell will still have their high end. It appears, however that Intel is not a company set up to take advantage of the Sub-$500 market. I don't think they should try, personally.
