Time to put in limit sell orders. 20,000 at 1 3/16ths. See if they are interested and move the bid up. If they do, then go and change to 1 3/8ths and so on and so on...

The mm's will open the spread if they have difficulty in "predicting" demand, therefore direction. Usually the spreads will remain the same 1/32nd to 1/8th through most of the price ranges and change only because of conditions. 1/4 spread would be really unusual, not impossible. The tighter the spread the more sure the MM of the price direction.

Remember he can see both forwards and backwards. That is, excepting Instinet orders, or other surprise daytrader orders. instinet's are the largest hazards from what I understand.
