Tom - once again, you are my e-commerce guru. Hocking the house, selling the dogs, wife's getting a second job.

$40 huh?

Peter

<<You want to know when CheckFree will take off?>>

CF needs some sizzle. They are executing very well....but...

I think Wall Street may have the company assessed as:

...owns a big share of a boring, grinding, low margin biz...slinging bits back and forth among computers, without its brand appearing anywhere....doesn't control the price or the service...only the middleman standard...and one of the existing huge bit slingers will come pounce on their market when the finish line is in sight.

(I don't share these conclusions)

I think the main problem with the stock is...no sex appeal.

What this stock needs is a good story. "Pete's private plan". "The secret". "Stage two". The line extension that fires up the afterburners. (feel free to insert your own phrase...I am done)

The story cannot violate the basic premise that CF is THE reliable standard setter and trusted partner that enables the banks to do web banking...AND MORE!

But there must be some ways for CF to take advantage of their central processing role, that will help add value to CF's existing users (bankers, consumers, and billers), and will light a fire under the stock. Maybe its marketing data? Centralized advertising placement and sales for Bank web sites? An E-commerce buying center that is bank/CF controlled and operated? Online software sales and delivery thru CF servers, with banks sharing a piece of the revenues?

Anybody got some ideas to throw out while we wait for lightning to strike the stock?

Brian
