The story of the so called "nuclear battery":

John, the so called "nuclear battery" was the subject of a US Patent, Pat.No. 4,835,433, issued in 1989 to a person named Paul Brown (it turned out that this person was actually a university dropout). I examined the patent several years ago, and it was immediately clear to me that this person doesn't have any understanding of physics. In the patent, he claims that alpha particles that are generated from a radioactive source (alpha particles are simply helium nuclei), upon impacting a coil, will generate an electric current. THERE IS NO SUCH A THING IN PHYSICS!!
Sadly, after the patent was issued, Fortune and other reputable magazines wrote articles praising the invention.

As you can imagine, this invention now lies in the great hall of fame along with cold fusion! (Actually, cold fusion was a much bigger embarrassment because it was claimed by two reputable university professors).

regards..
