RE: FON. I talked to a FON guy about the ION plan, and thought I'd post some of his comments: apparently, they're building ATM/SONET fiber loops around major metropolitan areas together with the RBOCs (who apparently will lease capacity(?)). For the last mile, they will rely on DSL and whatever CAP infrastructure is already in corporations (this actually closely mirrors what their CIO said in a Telephony (or was it America's Network?) interview a couple of months ago). Apparently they aren't going to target residential for a while. Oh, and all of it will use IP. He also mentioned something about a proprietary box using DSL that they have developed. That's about all I can remember :)

Any comments?
