blankmind,

IMO, if VIVUS stuck to only R&D, we would have a $80.00 stock today.
Vivus decided to do it all alone in the US with no marketing or production experience and thus the fall from 40 to single digit.

Just think, if they had an agreement with a big player like Merck or J&J, then all these time delays would have been avoided and they could let the big player take care of efficient mass production and mass marketing from day 1. Since Vivus decided to do it all alone we have had to suffer many setbacks. Had Vivus done this, their profit at this point would probably be 10 fold and they could be doing a lot of research on a whole array of urethrally delivered drugs.

The sleeper in this whole mess IMO is the fact that now after taking a few hard hits, Vivus has a factory that can produce MUSE at a low cost and can now let Astra and Janssen take care of the rest. IMO, they should eliminate the sales force and let a larger player do the marketing and sales in the USA. Then they can focus on research and production instead of trying to juggle all the balls. The international market is what will boost the stock price in Q3 and Q4.
Q2 will be a disaster but thats the way it goes when a company like Pfizer releases a well hyped pill.

In the past, many have said that MUSE will be too expensive to sell in other countries. Astra and Janssen do not have to mark up the product to over $20.00 to make a nice profit since they are only paying $6.00-7.00/dose. If foreigners will pay up to $50.00 for one Viagra tablet on the black market, certainly $12.00 to $15.00 for a dose of MUSE will not be considered as too costly.
