Franz,
Hi!! <<At around what stock price does DELL like to announce a split?>>

Well that is a very interesting question....I guess anyone on this thead that has been around for a few or more of these has their own opinion... I would say that anytime it gets over 100 we are looking at a definite....But, there are the "rumors" that Michael...and I believe he has told people....he doesn't like to see the stock in the 90's...allegedly wants the average investor to be able to purchase the stock within a reasonable price....
What is interesting about this situation are the runs that Dell has thrown at us all when they have announced...take last year at this time...the stock split was announced .....the stock ran and ran and finally peaked somewhere in the 170plus range.... then settled down until it eventually split in the 160's....I may not have all of the figures correct here...but, I hope you get the idea....

Best, kemble

By looking at some old charts I have this is a general history of splits.

Prior day Approximate run up prior
'98 131.88 80-140
'97 163.00 120-170
'96 113.50 80-120
'95 ~90 no significant jump

Hope this helps
