>>Is this because one person can have several different names?

If they paid multiple membership fees, or they were grandfathered with more than one login, or a combination thereof.

This would allow someone to be several people at once, right?

Right.

How can I set up an alias for myself?

Register and pay. However, doing so may technically violate SI terms of use.

There must be some confusion here because David is the expert.

SI DOES NOT allow multiple accounts or multiple names.

When you type a name in the box and click on aliases, you will get all the members with screen names that contain what you typed. Think of an alias as a screen name. An alias is not an additional name. You only get one name. SI calls it an alias because it probably is not your real name, but it means the same thing as a screen name like on aol, but you only get one on SI, not 5 like on aol.

That was pretty redundant, wasn't it!
