Hi Dennis. I like the idea of spinning off the IT division for the simple reason that the valuation of the new company will not be burdened by the ppm sector doldrums. Also, this will allow the new company to sell to its COMPETITORS without there being a conflict of interest.

Look what Lucent has done since it was spun off from ATT. I think that is a comparable comparison. (At least I hope it is!)

One question I have is what happens to the short sales? Do all the shorts stay with the parent company? That is my gut reaction. But the capitalization of the parent company is decreased. I hope someone can clear this up.
